Hamsalekha, a man who had his Roots in Theatre is one of the gems of Indian Cinema Music who is a rare and a hit amalgamation of a Writer and Composer. Hamsalekha, a name that is cherished and celebrated with love and immense respect in the hearts of Kannadigas makes a statement “Life is God, Earth is a Temple”. His works are notable for Integrated Folk Music into the mainstream of India Cinema. His extensive work for film and the stage has earned him the title “Naadha Brahma” (English: The Brahma of Music).

He is a Recipient of One National Award, Six State Awards, Six Filmfare Awards, Karnataka State Govt Kempegowda Award, Rajyostava Award, Dr. Rajkumar Award, Berkeley Award, Nandi Award and Madras Film Fans Association Award and there is no edge to the awards received by him. He has been conferred the Honorary Doctorate for the Literary Work by the Bangalore University in the year 2014 and also by GITAM University in the Year 2017. His Song HUTTIDHARE KANNADA NADALLI HUTTA BEKKU from the film Aakasmik sung by Dr. Rajkumar is an Anthem for Kannada which is now in the syllabus of Kuvempu University and the song E BHOOMI BHANNADA BUGURI is also texts for high school. HAMSALEKHA MUSIC+ TRUST

Hamsalekha is a founder secretary of ‘Hamsalekha Music+ Trust’. The Trust was established in the year 2001.The vision of the Trust is to safeguard the folklore and bring a perspective in preserving the rich art of our Culture. The Trust has been working towards it by fine tuning the folklore music, conducting seminars on folk music and literature, presenting number of folk art formats, Lahiri (folk tripaadi) which is a unique song and dance performance. The Trust established a free education school in the name of Hamsalekha Desi Vidya Samsathe in the year 2004-05 for underprivileged children for the class eight, ninth, tenth and pre-university college in English medium.

It also further spread its branch towards Graduate, Postgraduate and Diploma Courses in Performing Arts and Desi Music. Here the Experiments of Desi Music which is invented by Hamsalekha was expertise by the students and which took a new dimension in learning folk music to the next level.
